Take a Tour of Our Pig Barn
April 25, 2012 by USFRA
Farmer Meggie Foster and her husband Dallas hosted a group of visitors from China for an official farm tour. The delegates were part of a group of upper management professionals from a pig farm in China and wanted to learn more about how American farmers raised pigs with more modern resources. The group was able to see how Meggie and her family keep their pigs healthy through heating mat, protective suits and more. Check out her blog which includes photos from the tour.
We think farm tours are a great way to connect with farmers and to hear answers to questions about food straight from the source. If you haven’t had a chance to talk to a farmer or rancher yet this year, we encourage you to reach out to one in your community. Or, head over to our Facebook page!
Meggie Foster is the farm blogger behind Hoosier Farm Babe Tell Tails, where she shares stories about the crazy life of a farm mama living life the fabulous way! Meggie keeps busy as a full-time working, new mom and wife to her hubby of six years, Dallas and their daughter Reagan. Together, Dallas and Meggie own and operate a 600-sow farrow-to-finish hog operation and grain farm corn and soybeans in central Indiana and Ohio, in addition to owning a small Jersey dairy herd. Also, Meggie works off the farm as the associate editor and new media manager at Farm World Newspaper.
