What impact does drought have on farming and food prices?

The United States, particularly the western and central U.S., are facing a difficult period of drought. With a challenging growing season, many farmers and ranchers will face difficult management decisions as they look into the future. Cattle ranchers, dairy farmers, pig farmers and poultry farmers will see increasingly higher feed prices. This reflects the need to continue developing technologies that can help farmers and ranchers face tough environmental conditions and still produce yields to provide an abundant food supply.
